A practical walkthrough
How to change a QR link without reprinting
Change a dynamic QR code destination after printing. Follow the editing steps, keep the original image, and verify that new scans reach the new link.

First check what you printed
A QR pattern cannot be edited after printing. If it contains a QRSwivo public URL ending in /r/ followed by its identifier, its destination is managed through this service. If it contains the final website address directly, changing that destination requires control of the original website or a new printed code.
Do not upload a private management link to a QR generator. Your printed image should contain only the public redirect URL. For preflight checks, failed saves and rollback planning, use the complete destination-update guide.
Update the connection
Open the saved private management link, or sign in and open the code in your dashboard. Check the public URL against your printed material before changing anything.
- Paste the new full HTTP or HTTPS destination into Destination URL.
- Save changes and wait for the success message. Failed requests do not change the confirmed record shown by the service.
- If the code is paused, resume it after saving a valid destination.
- Scan the existing printed code again using a fresh camera scan. Confirm the new page and any forms work on mobile.
Avoid confusing a scan with a cached website
QRSwivo sends a temporary redirect with headers that tell browsers and CDNs not to cache the destination mapping. A browser tab already open at the previous destination will remain on that website; changing the QR does not remotely navigate existing tabs.
Use a new scan of the permanent URL when verifying edits. You do not need a new QR image. Keep your original artwork archived so future print runs use the same link. If you lost an unclaimed guest management credential, the public QR URL alone does not grant editing access.
Rehearse the second and third change
For a workshop handout, prepare the registration page, directions page, and follow-up notes before printing. Create the code with registration as the destination and save its public URL alongside the artwork. Save the private management link separately; it is a credential, not something to place on the handout.
Switch to directions, save, and scan the same exported image. Repeat with the follow-up notes. The address encoded in the image should remain identical throughout, while the page reached by a fresh scan changes each time. Restore registration before distributing the handout. This is a rehearsal you can perform yourself, not a claim about a particular customer campaign.
If an update does not work
Read the editor’s error before repeating the request. An invalid destination must be corrected; a rate-limit message requires waiting. A missing or revoked guest credential requires the account that claimed the code or the correct saved credential. Neither the public QR image nor a support email proves editing authority.
If the saved destination is correct but the target website fails, open that website directly and check its availability and mobile layout. QRSwivo can change where its redirect points; it cannot repair an external website, provide its login access, or change a different QR provider’s printed code.
Put it into practice.
