Planning a QR menu: choose a page or PDF — QRSwivo field notes

Start with the menu experience

A QR code is a doorway. Compare the actual public webpage and PDF on a phone, checking readability, loading and sharing permissions. Choose the version your team can maintain and guests can use. The full restaurant menu setup guide covers creation, table proofs and shift handover after this planning step.

Include clear prices and allergen information appropriate to your operation. A QR service does not verify menu accuracy, accessibility, or food-information obligations. The restaurant remains responsible for that content.

Set up for the next season

Create a dynamic QR pointing to the current menu. Give it a descriptive name such as Main dining room menu, then claim it in an account or store the guest management link in the business password manager.

Place the code on a flat, matte table card with clear space around it and a short explanation of what opens. Keep it away from folds, reflections, and areas likely to be damaged during cleaning. Scan a physical sample under the actual dining-room lighting before ordering a full print run.

Make updates part of service

When a new menu goes live, verify the webpage first, save its URL in the QR editor, and scan the same table card again. Do not send diners to a staff login or an unpublished preview link.

Offer a printed menu or staff assistance for diners without a suitable device. Inspect table cards regularly for stickers that could replace your QR with another code. Review domain renewals and management access when staff responsibilities change. A dynamic link reduces reprinting; it does not remove the need for ongoing care.

Put it into practice.

Scan your code before and after a destination change. Keep your private management link safe. Create a free dynamic QR code.
