QR codes for events, small businesses, and campaigns — QRSwivo field notes

One code, one clear next step

People scan because they expect something specific. Register for the workshop is more helpful than Scan me. Choose a destination that continues the action promised beside the code, and remove extra steps wherever possible.

For an event, the same printed code can lead to registration before the day, directions during the event, and resources afterward. Tell returning visitors what has changed so the new destination makes sense.

Match the destination to the context

A business card can lead to a mobile contact page rather than a crowded homepage. A product insert can lead to care instructions. A shop window can link to opening hours. Avoid destinations that require an account just to read basic information unless that restriction is clearly explained.

Do not include personal records, authentication tokens, or other secrets in a public URL. Anything printed can be photographed and shared beyond the original audience. A QR image is an access mechanism only if the destination also enforces access controls.

Plan maintenance before launch

Name each code by its printed placement and keep a simple inventory. Test the destination on mobile, inspect the print proof, and record who owns the management credential.

QRSwivo does not currently offer scan statistics. If you use campaign parameters at the destination, assess the analytics provider and disclosures separately. Do not infer unique people from raw scans: camera previews, repeat scans, and automated requests can all produce requests. A successful QR campaign is a useful next step, not a fabricated scan counter.
